Hello! My name is Victoria and I am a Foodaholic.

Just like there are support groups for alcohol or gambling addictions - there should be a Foodaholic's Anonymous for those of us to share our story and help raise each other up. For all I know - there is - but instead, I have all of you reading this plus the support of the wonderful lecturers at Thin's In.

For those of you who don't know - Thin's In is a weight loss business in Waterford, Connecticut that was founded by Dianne Rubin. Thin's In teaches you about portion control, eating the right foods and maintaining healthy habits. Dianne has been widely praised as a "battler of the bulge" and is known to be forceful.

Well... I found myself alone in a room with her and the next thing I knew she had me on a scale and planning my first week of Thin's In. That was last week. I didn't want to know what I weighted and I didn't want her to know what I weight because I knew it wouldn't make either of us happy. She told me anyways. Let's just say - the number was a lot higher than I wanted it to be.

To be completely honest with all of you - I was PISSED!! I went home and yelled at my mom and blamed her for leaving me alone with Dianne. I didn't want to do it. I knew what was going to happen and I was NOT HAPPY. I must have typed out a dozen different text messages to Dianne to let her know I was quitting before I started.

For any of us who have done fad diets or tried to lose weight through other programs out there - the first month is HARD! Not only the getting your head around changing you lifestyle (not more cake!) but the stress that it can put on your body (and those around you) when you start.

Day one: I rebelled. With nachos.

Day two, I weighed and measured my nachos.

Day three was completely legal and by three o'clock I needed a snack, a nap, and my head was pounding.

Day four I woke up hungry and with a headache but I had another legal day.

Day five - I broke and got those horribly good tasting cupcakes from the gas station but other than that, my day was legal.

Day six I had a headache again but didn't feel as hungry so I took the dog for a walk. A mile and a half walk around my neighborhood. I went home after the walk and measured all my food.

I can't tell you why I decided to actually do Thin's In and follow program because I am not so sure myself what changed in my mind... all I know is this: Day 7 - Weight In Day - I am down 5 pounds and couldn't be happier. My headache still is there but easing up every day.

The first week was hard. As they say it takes 21 days to make a habit. Hopefully the next two weeks get easier.
